Provincial Nursing Workload Project

Reducing workload and improving practice conditions – that’s critical to solving the nursing shortage.

In 2006 BCNU and health employers agreed to work together to find ways to better manage nurses’ workload. The agreement was part of the 2006 provincial contract.

Eight pilot projects gave frontline nurses a chance to develop new standards for measuring workload and applying nurse staffing plans to the needs of patients/resident/clients.
