This bursary is available to student RN's who are registered student members with BCNU and not currently working as employed student nurses. Revenue for the bursary is obtained by donations, fund raising and fees from the Master Card Affinity Program.

Eligibility for Bursaries

You must be:

• A student nurse in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of a direct entry nursing program or in 4th year only of an advanced entry nursing program


• A current resident of British Columbia


• Not currently employed as a student nurse


• A student member of BCNU - membership is free. Sign up to become a student member

You may only receive funding once. If you have already received assistance from the bursary, please do not reapply.

Bursary Amounts

Bursaries will be awarded up to a maximum of $1000.00 per applicant on a first come first serve basis.

Bursaries awarded to members will be according to the criteria established by Council and may be subject to revisions as funds allow and number of applications received.

Application Process

Complete an online application.

• All the data submitted from the form is sent to us in a secure format.


• Social Insurance Number will be required for taxation purposes

• Verification of enrolment in program is required (letter from educational institution, verification of tuition amount paid or transcript)

Award Process

• Applications are accepted between early January through to September 15 of each calendar year


• Application deadline is September 15, 2012


• Bursaries will be awarded on a first come first serve basis

Award Disbursement

• Bursaries will be awarded in October of each calendar year


• Verification of enrolment in program is required (letter from educational institution, verification of tuition amount paid or transcript) and must be mailed in with completed Expense Form
