OH & S Core Training
This workshop is designed to strengthen the ability of elected OH&S steward’s to resolve workplace/member OH&S problems by motivating members to know and exercise their fundamental safety rights. Stewards learn to build a prevention-focussed safety culture and increase their ability to identify and respond to concerns. The workshop ensures consistency of OH&S steward’s approaches to resolving problems.

Workshop Topics include:
OH&S steward role
Workers rights and responsibilities under the collective agreement, Workers Compensation Act and WCB OH&S Regulations
Member involvement in solving OH&S workplace problems
Tools and support available to solve workplace problems
The BUS and Basic Steward workshops are prerequisites for this workshop. The workshop is held three times a years at the BCNU provincial office. If you are accepted, you will receive salary replacement and travel expenses for the three days.
