BCNU’s Health and Safety Department works to help BCNU members prevent occupational injury and disease and to ensure fair benefits to members who become injured or sick. It also provides information on key OH&S issues, as well as on sick leave benefits, workers compensation and long term disability.

BCNU provides all health and safety stewards a three-day education course so they can function as union representatives with management on joint occupational health and safety committees. These joint committees are the prime mechanism for dealing with OH&S issues in the workplace.
