JOSH Committee Training is a new introductory course designed to orient BCNU members to the rewarding role of an OH&S committee member. JOSH committees are legally mandated and have the ability to inspect the workplace, investigate problems and make recommendations to the Employer. Monitoring the health and safety environment is a critical and valuable role. This workshop is delivered in clear language by trained OH&S professionals. You will learn the tools of the committee in an interactive and participative environment.
By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Clarify specific roles & responsibilities of a JOSH member
- Explain the legal requirements to have a functioning JOSH committee
- Outline inspection & investigation procedures
- Identify key OH&S issues in your health care worksite & how to develop a strategy to resolve the issues
- Access resources (human, print & online) to support committee work
All applicants must be:
- BCNU member who currently sits on a worksite JOSH committee, OR
- BCNU OH&S steward who has not attended Core Training
