- BCNU represents about 26,000 nurses and allied health care workers across BC
- BCNU represents Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Licensed Graduate Nurses, Undergraduate Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and health care support staff.
- BCNU's largest bargaining unit is the Nurses' Bargaining Association – about 25,000 RNs and RPNs employed in BC's public health care sector by the province's six health authorities and affiliated employers. Also included in the NBA are several hundred members of the Union of Psychiatric Nurses and Health Sciences Association.
- Other BCNU members work as direct provincial government employees (Riverview, Forensic Psychiatric Institute, government-owned long term care), as correctional health care workers employed by Joye Morris Health Services Inc (contractor to provincial jails); for various aboriginal nations' health services, and in private long term care facilities
- BCNU is a member of the Canadian Federation of Nurses' Unions, the BC Federation of Labour and the Canadian Labour Congress.
