Time lines and process around mediator's report clarified
On December 2, the Nurses Bargaining Association (NBA) bargaining committee and BCNU council made the decision to suspend all job action and allow mediator Brian Foley to write a report with recommendations that will be taken to nurses for a vote. Details of this decision were sent to you in the last bargaining bulletin (Job action suspended to await...). Mr. Foley advised the NBA that his report would be ready on Tuesday, December 8.
On Friday, December 4, the BCNU Council fully discussed the logistics of carrying out membership meetings and organizing a membership vote, given the holiday season, weather conditions and the BCNU office move. The following time line was decided:
- Tuesday, December 8 Mediator Brian Foley sends his report to BCNU office by 5 pm
- Wednesday, December 9 Nurses' Bargaining Association bargaining team reviews report and makes recommendation to BCNU council
- Thursday, December 10 BCNU Council meets to review report and decide what recommendation to make to BCNU members
- Bulletin faxed to stewards for posting, outlining council decision
- December 15 - 17 Foley report copied and sent out to stewards
- December 18 - 21 Stewards receive Foley report
- January 5 - 22 Meetings with nurses throughout the province to discuss the report - watch your bulletin boards for details
- January 26 BCNU members vote on BCNU council recommendation re Foley report

Once again, thank you to all nurses who worked so hard to ensure our job action to date has been successful. Without this support, we would not have been able to make the public aware of all of our workload and fair compensation issues.
