To: All former public service nurses now working in the health sector
In-service status extended
Nurses formerly working in the public service who have now transferred to regional health authorities (referred to as the health sector) have been granted an extension of their in-service status until March 31, 2000.
This means that any former public service nurse transferred to the health sector will be considered as an internal candidate for any job posting in the public service until March 31, 2000.
The in-service provision was originally agreed to in a Memorandum of Agreement dated March 3, 1997, that gave transferred nurses in-service status for a period of 12 months after the effective date of transfer.
The extension of the in-service provision, which applies to regular positions only, was agreed at Public Service bargaining for the Tenth Nurses Master and Component Agreements last week.
This extension is effective immediately.
