Valuing Nurses Work
Ever dreamed of touring with a professional musical theatre production?
Dream no more.
Send in an application now to be one of two BCNU members who will assist with the creation of, and perform in a musical about?...the value of nurses' work...our lives....our sorrows....our joys....our laughter....our hopes ....our dreams....our place in our communities and the struggles we share as we try our best to care.
The BCNU members who are selected from the application process will have the opportunity to audition for a feature role in this musical about the value of nurses' work. The successful nurse/actors will tour the province with other professional actors and musicians for seven weeks beginning March 27, 2000.
It is hoped that the personal and professional experiences of nurses woven together into a dramatic, comedic and meaningful production will help to educate the public about what it means to be a nurse today. Nurses around BC will also have the opportunity to attend the production in their region and celebrate this creative portrayal of nurses' lives. The final performance will be held during Nursing Week on May 12, 2000, Florence Nightingale's birthday.
Applications from all regions of the province will be considered for an audition. Salary reimbursement and expenses will be available for the successful RN actors to attend the audition.
Selected applicants will be called by the Artistic Director, Stephen F. Hill, to audition between November 10 and December 2, 1999 for a full time role in this touring musical. Stephen Hill has worked in social activism through artistic ventures for nearly two decades. He has worked with First Nations, youth, the United Nurses' of Alberta, HSA, HEU and in Mexico with rural health care workers to name just a few of his experiences. He has performed in Tokyo, London and our own National Arts Centre.
Selection of nurses for the November auditions will be based on your qualifications, musical and theatrical experience and your ability to tour with other professional artists. Further expectations and information are laid out in the Application Form.
Additional application forms will be available from BCNU Stewards. All applications must be submitted to the BCNU Provincial Office by FAX or by mail no later than November 5, 1999.
The stage awaits you. Act now!
