This is a reminder that the BC Nurses' Union is still collecting Donations for the Homeless
Your donations need to be dropped off this Friday evening, November 12. The BC Nurses' Union has been supporting the Salvation Army Beacon Bus Ministry by collecting donations for Victoria's homeless over the last few weeks. The critical need, especially in the winter months is for these items:
- Warm blankets & sleeping bags (blankets should be tightly woven)
- Warm socks (the thicker the better, men's size large)
- Warm hats, toques, gloves, scarves
- Personal hygiene items
|
All clothing should be clean and in reasonably good condition. New items are always wonderful to receive! The need for these items among people who sleep in doorways, under bridges and on church steps is alarming for a culture as well off as ours. We have found this to be especially true when working with our mentally ill homeless who are doubly disabled by both poverty and their illness.
