Nurses authorize overtime to ensure blood is collected

The BC Nurses Union is authorizing nurses at Canadian Blood Services to work overtime during the Easter weekend to boost the critically low supply of blood. The union implemented a province-wide ban on overtime from 7 am April 13 to 7 am April 17 in response to the woefully inadequate monetary offer tabled by the Health Employers Association of BC on April 10th.

However, BCNU is allowing overtime at Canadian Blood Services and encouraging all nurses and members of the public to donate blood over the weekend. The following clinics are open to receive donors:

Saturday, April 14
Canadian Blood Services - Oak Street clinic
4750 Oak Street
