Public Service Bargaining Stalled
UPN conducts unilateral negotiations with the employer. Scheduled bargaining dates in September cancelled.

In a unilateral move by Dwight Wenham, Director of Labour Relations for UPN, discussions on bargaining issues with the Public Service Employer Relations Commission (PSERC) have occurred without the attendance of the Bargaining Committee, which includes BCNU representatives. As well, UPN has cancelled all scheduled bargaining dates in September without just cause.

BCNU views this move by UPN as a violation of the Articles of Association for Public Service Bargaining and has filed a complaint dated September 24, with the Umpire for the Public Service Nurses’ Association in response to UPN’s actions.

A hearing has been requested for next week with the Umpire and UPN. The outcome of that hearing and subsequent bargaining information will be relayed to all Public Service Stewards when available.
