Status of new provincially imposed "collective agreements"

Nurses have been asking when they can expect to receive their new provincial "collective agreements." Due to the government’s legislation that imposed the Health Employers Association of BC’s final offer on nurses, the process for producing the contracts is complex. This will result in delays and we do not expect the "collective agreements" to be distributed before the new year.

In the meantime, BCNU stewards are attending contract interpretation sessions throughout the province to learn about the new language. They will receive packages of information which include the imposed language and the items that were agreed at the bargaining table prior to the legislated end to our bargaining.

This information can also be viewed on the BCNU web site at www.bcnu.org Remember that much of the language of the April 1, 1998 - March 31, 2001 Provincial Agreement remains in effect. All changes are found in the imposed language (which includes the pay grids) plus the items agreed at the 2001 bargaining table.

For more information, contact a BCNU steward or your regional chair.
