Labour Relations Board orders employers to pay
Nurses action forces full payment

Following a submission by BCNU, the Labour Relations Board has issued an order to five employers who have failed to pay nurses any of the monies owing after the imposed settlement of the provincial collective agreement. The employers are:
  • Hilton Villa
  • Melody House
  • Sunrise Special Care Facility
  • Cartier House
  • Pender House
The order for payment will now be filed in court. If employers don’t comply, the Union may elect to proceed with contempt of court charges.

Partial defaulters given deadline
A BCNU survey, which compiled data based on a 50 per cent response rate from PCA worksites, found many employers had not paid in full. Since the survey, some employers have made complete payment but others still have not paid. These employers have committed to pay outstanding amounts by the end of December 2001 including interest.

BCNU will continue to pursue full payment, as the Union learns of more employers who have failed to pay.
