April 4, 2002
BlueNet card effective April 1, 2002
New benefit means nurses covered by the Provincial Collective Agreement can get eligible prescription drug costs paid directly at the pharmacy
If you are enrolled in the extended health plan through Pacific Blue Cross, you will receive a BlueNet card from your employer. By using the BlueNet card, many of your prescription drug claims will be processed directly on-line with Pacific Blue Cross when you make your purchase.
When you purchase a prescription drug on or after April 1, 2002, present your new ID card to the pharmacist before your prescription is filled. While you wait for your prescription, the pharmacist will send the claim to Pacific Blue Cross (PBC) by computer. PBC will reimburse the pharmacy directly for expenses that are covered by your Extended Health plan. You will only be asked to pay the pharmacist for amounts that are not covered by your plan (e.g. any annual deductible, coinsurance, or for drugs not covered).
If your pharmacy is not on-line with Pacific Blue Cross, the way in which those claims are processed will not change. That is, you will still have to submit a paper claim through the mail. Paper claims will also have to be made for dependents that are also covered under another Pacific Blue Cross group through your spouse’s employer.
If you have questions, contact your employer or call Pacific Blue Cross at 604-419-2600 or toll free at 1-888-275-4672.
