International Nurses’ Week, May 8, 2002
"Red Alert" for Healthcare Day
Poster - 49K pdf
Cuts to healthcare services are planned throughout BC. This year’s theme for International Nurses’ Week is "Nurses always there for you: caring for families"
Nurses are asked to take action on May 8 to express your concerns over the upcoming cuts to services in healthcare.
During an international nursing shortage, BC’s Health Minister is talking about nurses losing their jobs. How can we care for families with too few staff and too few services?
Nurses wear red May 8 to draw attention to the health care cuts which put nurses’ ability to care for families at risk.
What else can you do?
Call your MLA during Nursing Week and tell them:
- You want quality care for families in healthy communities in every community in BC
- Families may face risks due to the Liberal’s proposed service cuts
- You may not be able to provide the care families need if massive reorganizations which cut staff and services go forward
- Laying off nurses during an international and BC nursing shortage is a disastrous and harmful plan for all British Columbians
