Keep Health Care Public - "Lessons from Ontario"
BCNU’s speaking tour presentation is now available on our web site

BCNU members and the general public can now watch last week’s presentations from BCNU’s fall speakers’ tour by accessing the BCNU web site.

The presentations are by Ross Sutherland, an RN from Kingston, Ont. and a member of the Ontario Health Coalition, and Irene Harris, co-chair of the Ontario Health Coalition and a vice-president of the Ontario Federation of Labour.

Sutherland is a former home care nurse who now works in emergency. He authored a recent report about Ontario’s push for private MRI and CT scan clinics. He also describes what happened when Ontario contracted out home care to for-profit private companies.

Harris gave an overview of the impact of cutbacks and privatization in Ontario, moves that are similar to the direction Gordon Campbell is going in BC.

The webcast includes opening remarks by Anne Shannon, chair of BCNU’s Pacific Rim Region. The presentation was given at a public meeting in Nanaimo on October 1.

To access the webcast go to our website www.bcnu.org and click on the "Working TV" icon.
