Employers must provide nurses with collective agreements

Employers are telling BCNU members they did not receive enough copies of the Provincial Collective Agreement to distribute to every member at the worksite. The Union has received a copy of an e-mail asking nurses to return 20% of the collective agreements already distributed and suggesting nurses download a copy of the agreement from the Internet. This does not meet PCA requirements.

In accordance with Article 6.08 of the PCA 35,000 copies of the agreement were printed for distribution. The Health Employers Association of BC was responsible for ensuring that employers had enough copies to distribute to each BCNU member covered by the PCA. At the most, this equals approximately 26,000 nurses.

Failure to provide agreement is grievable
Article 6.08 of the PCA requires each employer to provide each employee with a copy of the collective agreement in booklet form. If you have not received your booklet form copy from your employer, contact your BCNU Steward and file a grievance under Article 6.08.
