Recruitment is beginning for BCNU focus groups
Research involves separate surveys of BCNU members and stewards.
Please cooperate with CGT Research if you are telephoned this month and asked to participate
To prepare for provincial bargaining in 2004, recruitment is beginning for a series of focus groups of BCNU members.
The focus groups are part of a membership survey to identify bargaining priorities and address issues affecting members, specific groups of members, and BCNU stewards.
The focus groups will be held in January, and will be followed by a random sample telephone poll in February.
In addition to surveying the general membership, other focus groups will be conducted among younger BCNU members (35 and younger) and nursing students. These groups will help identify the needs of younger nurses and help BCNU prepare for a special Youth Conference scheduled for September. Other focus groups will address the needs of BCNU members who belong to visible minorities, to identify ways to encourage members of colour to increase their participation in BCNU leadership and activities.
A separate series of focus groups and polling will be conducted among BCNU stewards.
To conduct the research BCNU has hired CGT Research International, a Vancouver-based social research firm..
Please co-operate with CGT if you are called this month to participate.
