Special dues levy to end June 6, 2003
The special BCNU 1/4 per cent dues levy put in place to replenish the union’s defence fund will end as of June 6, 2003.
The levy, originally implemented in October 2001, was needed after 2001 job action reduced the defence fund. Having rebuilt the fund to the $4.5 million target, the levy can now safely be ended.
The union is currently sending out letters instructing employers to cease deducting the 1/4 per cent levy as of June 6, 2003.
