Non-payment of April 1, 2002 wage increase resolved - consent order issued

A consent order issued by arbitrator Joan Gordon on April 10, 2003 has settled the issue of non-payment of the April 1, 2002 wage increase for nurses.

The order applies to all employers covered by the Provincial Collective Agreement (PCA).

The order states:
The Employers will apply the April 1, 2002 wage schedule in Article 62 of the PCA to all wages earned by employees covered by the PCA between April 1, 2002 and March 31, 2003.

The Employers will pay interest... on all retroactive wage payments implementing the

April 1, 2002 wage increases paid after June 30, 2002 as follows:
  1. 2.25% for the period between July 1 and December 31, 2002
  2. 2.5% for the period between January 1, 2003 and the date of the Consent Award; and
  3. 4.5% for the period after the date of the Consent Award.
The Employers will pay all wages and interest owed pursuant to this agreement within 28 days of the date of the Consent Award.

BCNU Labour Relations Officers will be notifying employers where single employer grievances over non-payment have been filed, regarding the requirement to pay. If monies owing are not paid, LROs will take action.
