Get Ready to Vote for Treasurer and Executive Councillor BCNU televote runs from 9AM on May 1 to 12 Noon on May 30, 2003
BCNU’s election for the positions of executive councillor (2) and treasurer runs from 9 AM on May 1 to 12 Noon on May 30.
The two candidates running for BCNU Treasurer are: Mabel Tung and Lesley Walker. The three candidates running for the two executive councillor positions are: Maxine Armstrong, Len Rose and Andy Wiebe.
On April 30, BCNU mailed an election package to the homes of all BCNU members who have given the union their address. The mailing included the statements and biographies of each candidate; instructions on how to use BCNU’s new televoting system; and a Personal Identity Number.
Here’s how to use BCNU’s televoting system:
- You can vote 24 hours per day during the election period, which runs from 9 AM on May 1 to 12 Noon on May 30, 2003.
- To vote, simply telephone 1-877-313-2121 from anywhere in Canada or the continental USA (excluding Hawaii and Alaska).
- You’ll be greeted by a voice that prompts you to answer a series of questions using your telephone keypad.
- The first question asks you to provide your Personal Identity Number, which was mailed to your home with the candidates’ brochures and voting instructions.
- After correctly punching in your PIN, you’ll be asked to vote for one candidate for treasurer, and then, two different candidates for executive councillor. You cannot vote for the same candidate twice.

You will find election statements and the biographies of each candidate in the latest issue of Update magazine, which was mailed to all BCNU members in early May. Or you can visit www.bcnu.org for more information.
If you have any questions about televoting, or if you didn’t receive your election package, please call the BCNU election hotline at 1-800-894-3311.
