Support for nurses affected by forest fires
Here’s how you can help

Fund for nurses who have lost their homes
BCNU will be setting up a relief fund to assist nurses who have lost their homes in forest fires throughout the province. If you would like to donate, please make your cheque payable to:

Nurses Fire Relief Fund
and send it to:
BC Nurses’ Union
4060 Regent Street
Burnaby, BC V5C 6P5
Attn: Linda Hudson

No matter how big or small the donation is, every dollar will be appreciated. For example, if every member donated one hour’s pay, the fund would grow to over $500,000!

Emergency staffing roster
Due to this catastrophic situation, BCNU is collecting names of nurses who are willing to be deployed to health care facilities which may have to be evacuated or where staff fatigue reaches the point that nurses from outside the area need to be called in.

To add your name to the emergency staffing roster, please contact Lee-Erin McKenney at the BCNU office by phone: 604-433-2268 or toll free 1-800-663-9991 extension #2255 or by email: lemckenney@bcnu.org. She will need your name, telephone number and/or email address, the town/city where you live and your practice area (acute medical, ICU etc).

We will keep this list and make it available to health authorities if requested. The Health Authority would then contact you to make the necessary deployment arrangements.
