Ferry workers agree to binding arbitration
B.C. ferry workers ended their strike action this morning after approving mediator Vince Ready’s recommendation to go to binding arbitration, with Vince Ready serving as the arbitrator.
After the employer also agreed to binding arbitration, the B.C. Ferry and Marine Workers Union announced they will be working to get the ferries back to normal operation as quickly as possible.
Throughout the three-day job action, ferry workers received ongoing support from across the labour movement. Some BCNU members joined the picket lines to support the ferry workers and their refusal to accept huge wage rollbacks and contracting out.
