New bursary for Women’s Campaign School
BCNU Council approves funding to support up to three members to attend

Nurses who are considering running for political office can now apply to BCNU for funding to attend a three-day campaign school.

The Women’s Campaign School, hosted by the Canadian Women Voters Congress, takes place February 27 to 29, 2004 in Vancouver. The Canadian Women Voters Congress is a non-partisan organization dedicated to encouraging Canadian women to become strong, effective voices at all levels of government.

The campaign school was created to help get more women elected. It focuses on election campaign aspects relevant to federal, provincial, municipal and First Nations government election.

Council has allocated $3600 to fund up to three BCNU members to attend. Each bursary will cover the registration fee and travel and accommodation if required.

How to apply
Interested BCNU members should apply in writing, stating why you would like to attend the campaign school. Please keep your remarks to one page only, and provide contact details.

A Council sub-committee will make the selections.

Submit an application by February 7, 2004
Submit you application form (Attention Micheline Smith) to the BCNU office by February 7, 2004.
