Short list developed for executive director position, interviews scheduled for May 30
A committee of BCNU Council has taken the next step in the complex process of recruiting an executive director of negotiations and strategic development for BCNU.
The position is one of two posts created to fulfill the duties formerly covered by the union’s Chief Operating Officer. (Acting C.O.O. Gayle Duteil was appointed to the other senior position, executive director of operations, earlier this year).
Council’s selection committee met on May 9 and developed a short list of qualified candidates. They developed the short list after reviewing numerous applications from potential candidates who met the job specifications as posted on the web site of the executive search firm Korn-Ferry.
The meeting followed an exhaustive national search for qualified candidates by the firm, which was retained by BCNU earlier this year. Korn-Ferry developed the job specifications after extensive consultations with various stakeholders, including members of BCNU Council and all BCNU staff.
The selection committee will interview candidates on the short list on May 30.
Council hopes the successful candidate will be in place and ready to begin work in the summer.
Members of the selection committee are chair Frank Gillespie (chair Vancouver Metro region), Anne Shannon (BCNU vice-president), Mabel Tung (BCNU treasurer), Len Rose (BCNU executive councillor), Peggy Eburne (co-chair Simon Fraser region), Penny Henderson (chair North West region), Gayle Duteil (acting C.O.O.), and Maureen MacLean (director of finance).
