Bargaining 2006
A call for nominees for BCNU's Bargaining Committee: Nominations will ONLY be accepted at regional bargaining conferences

The British Columbia Nurses' Union will accept nominations from candidates for BCNU's Bargaining Committee at this year's regional bargaining conferences. The committee helps negotiate a collective agreement for the Nurses' Bargaining Association.

Positions up for election on BCNU's Bargaining Committee are: one representative for Long Term Care; two representatives for Community; two representatives for Acute Care (from facilities with 701 or more members); one representative for Acute Care (from facilities with 201-700 members); one representative for Acute Care (from facilities with 200 members or less). These positions are open to all BCNU members, but knowledge of our union's structure and Provincial Collective Agreement will be an asset.

Getting elected to the Bargaining Committee is a three-step process:

Step One: Nominations for these Bargaining Committee positions will ONLY be accepted at this year's regional bargaining conferences. (Please contact your steward or regional chair for the date of your region's upcoming bargaining conference.) Regional executives will be responsible for verifying that the candidates nominated by their region meet all appropriate criteria.

Step Two: All members nominated for BCNU's Bargaining Committee should also be elected at their regional bargaining conference as a regional delegate to BCNU's provincial bargaining conference, which will take place from February 28 to March 1, 2006.

Step Three: The names of all candidates are then put forward to the Provincial Bargaining Conference where delegates will elect the bargaining team on March 1, 2006.

This material must be received at the BCNU office by 5 PM on the afternoon of January 17, 2006. Material received after this date will not be accepted.
