Join your BCNU colleagues around the province as an active participant in the 16th annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure Sunday September 30, 2007
BCNU hosts its first national team and encourages all members to sign up and Run for the Cure

BCNU members are encouraged to sign up to be part of the BCNU national team and Run for the Cure in your own community across BC on September 30, 2007. Runs will be held in the following communities; Abbotsford/Fraser Valley, Castlegar, Kamloops, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Victoria and Vancouver.

All you have to do to be part of this important initiative to raise awareness about breast cancer is to register yourself as part of our national team named the "British Columbia Nurses’ Union." Colette Wickstrom is your national captain. You will need this information to register online on the CIBC Run for the Cure website.

Once on the CIBC Run for the Cure homepage you’ll note there is a pink icon entitled "Join a Team." Click on the icon and select your choice of the community you wish to run in and click register. You will then need to fill in your personal information completely before being able to join the national BCNU team.

You have a number of options to pay the registration fee. You can pay the $35 fee yourself (t-shirt included if you register by September 14). The registration fee is waived for adults who fundraise and collect $150 or more and youth (under 18) who raise $50 or more (t-shirt included). The registration fee is also waived for anyone who personally donates $150. Participation is free for youth (under 18) who do not raise $50 or pay the registration fee up front (t-shirt not included).

Please note: the registration fee itself is non-refundable and does not qualify for a tax receipt. Your personal donation of $150 will be tax receiptable however.

Once you have completed your personal information, you will be asked to sign a waiver online and then you can continue and join the BCNU team by entering the team name and captain’s last name.

BCNU is proud to be a sponsor this year of the CIBC Run for the Cure and hopes you will participate and raise money to fund innovative and relevant breast cancer research, education, and awareness programs in the communities where you live.

If you have problems registering, please contact the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation at 604-683-2873.
