Nurses speak out for InSite clinic
Nurses who strongly support the health service and harm reduction approach to care provided at Vancouver's InSite clinic will be speaking out for the continuation of those services Friday May 9th, at the clinic. Nurses join the increasing number of voices who are calling on the federal government to set aside politics and commit to the long term continuation and expansion of such vital health services.

Participants
Debra McPherson – is the President of the BC Nurses' Union and promoter of evidence-based health care. She is also a strong and passionate voice for nurses and for some of society's most disenfranchised. She will host the press conference.
Patsy Thorpe – is a registered nurse, mother and a Board Member of From Grief to Action. Patsy is working towards more harm reduction and treatment facilities. She also deeply understands the tragedies associated with addictions due to the death of her daughter.
Marnie Hewlett – is the Regional Chair for BCNU's RIVA region. She is a strong advocate for InSite clinic nurses and their clients. She will be available to speak to the nurses' experiences and concerns.
Irene Goldstone – is the Director, Professional Education and Care Evaluation at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. She will speak to how under the British Columbia Health Professions Act, the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia set the standards for nursing practice in BC. Under the Act, a Registered Nurse has a professional obligation to provide clients with evidence-based care and support.
