Negotiations for a new contract covering 43,000 healthcare workers continued last week and detailed discussions on a number of non-monetary issues have now been tabled. Neither side has yet tabled a compensation package covering wages and benefits.
The multi-union Facilities Bargaining Association will continue discussions with the Health Employers Association of BC this week before breaking the week of April 23. Further bargaining sessions are scheduled for May.
More than 270 occupations are represented in the talks including licensed practical nurses, care aides, pharmacy technicians, admitting clerks, medical transcriptionists, trades and maintenance workers, sterile supply technicians, lab assistants, rehab assistants, dietary staff and many others.
BCNU represents eight unions with smaller numbers of members in the Facilities Bargaining Association.
