Convention

BCNU Convention

Each year delegates and observers from across the province gather to do the union's business at our annual Convention. You elect your Convention delegates at a regional meeting.

The union’s 36th annual convention will be held May 15 – 18, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver.

If you're elected to attend as a delegate or alternate you'll:
  • meet other members and share your concerns
  • hear reports from your Provincial Executive and Council
  • receive and approve BCNU's financial statements
  • debate and vote on proposed changes to BCNU's Constitution and Bylaws
  • debate and vote on policy resolutions

Constitution and Bylaws

BCNU's Constitution and Bylaws set out the rules governing your union. You have a chance to review the document every year and to propose changes for delegates to consider at the annual Convention.

Proposed bylaw and constitutional amendment forms must be received by the Bylaws Committee no later than January 24, 2017.

Proposed resolution forms must be received by the Resolutions Committee no later than January 24, 2017.

Our Policies and Procedures

Policies and standard operating procedures are developed and reviewed throughout the year by Council, and reviewed at Convention. You can find all of the policies in the BCNU Policies and Procedures Manual, which is accessible via the BCNU Member Portal. The purpose of the manual is to provide guidance and assistance to members and staff of BCNU on a range of topics, from voting procedures at Convention to proper use of BCNU-administered email accounts.
