I am a Registered nurse with 15 years experience in rural and critical care. Recently, my focus has shifted toward leadership, education, and mentorship. I have developed onboarding and orientation resources currently used across Northern Health to support new staff and help set them up for success. As a newer BCNU Steward, I am excited to bring my passion for mentorship and resource development to this role. My objectives as the NE Steward Liaison would be to identify gaps in steward onboarding and support, strengthen connections through mentorship and collaboration, ensure rural and northern perspectives are represented and develop practical, sustainable resources that will support stewards and members for years to come.

My name is Kristina Korum. It is with the encouragement and support of my local Steward team that I have put forth my name for the role of Steward Liaison for the North East region. I thank them for their belief that I have the blend of leadership, problem solving and technical skills required of the position. I have been a steward at UHNBC for three years and am currently actively working on completing the Steward Education Program Certificate which will strengthen my skills in labor relations, grievance handling, conflict resolution and communication skills.

Hanna Embree has worked as a BCNU in the NE Regions for the last 16+ years. In that time she has held several regional and provincial roles, including Lobby Coordinator, Regional Treasurer, 2SLGBTQIA+ rep, 2SLGBTQIA Caucus chair, and Provincial Bargaining Team member. Hanna works diligently to represent the members of the NE Region, and specializes in disciplinary and RITW complaints.

In the Steward Liaison Role Hanna is focused on recruitment of new stewards in all sites, providing support and guidance for new stewards, and maintaining strong connections with the experienced steward team. Hanna communicates effectively, and is ready and able to take on this role with little orientation to the regional executive team.

Jennifer has spent 16 years nursing as both an LPN and RN in various regions and departments. She has 25+ years of leadership training and enjoys inspiring others through change and challenge. She passionately believes in self sustainability and is a strong advocate, encouraging those around her to implore their unique abilities and strengths. Jennifer believes that knowledge and power are uniquely synonymous. Her passion for education is compelling and she thrives on encouraging and supporting others’ ability to find their voice. Her primary goal is to inspire more NE union involvement via meeting attendance and stewardship, strengthening members’ knowledge of their collective agreement whilst supporting advocacy for themselves and others.
