Student Nurse Membership
The BC Nurses' Union welcomes all student nurses enrolled in BC to become student members of the union.
This free membership offers student nurses access to the Building Union Strength workshop, attendance at BCNU regional meetings , access to conferences and other educational events, a free BCNU student lanyard mailed to their home upon registration, and a copy of the Update Magazine, which regularly features student and young nurses and offers up-to-date information on many issues affecting nurses.
BCNU offers our members regular regional education workshops. The content of these workshops varies, depending on the needs of the membership. BCNU also hosts a number of conferences, ranging from human rights and equity issues to nursing professional practice issues. These conferences have a select number of seats set aside for student members, to ensure that they can attend. For more information, visit the student nurses conference sponsorships webpage.
Student membership is only available to those students who are actively registered in a school of instruction within British Columbia.
The member number that students receive when they become student members will remain with them for their union life with BCNU. The BCNU member number stays the same when the student becomes employed at a BCNU unionized worksite.
If you would like to learn more about BCNU, student membership or arrange for a presentation to be delivered at your school, please contact your BCNU regional council member or studentnurse@bcnu.org.
