Lobby Coordinator
My Name is Rebecca Klassen. I have been a nurse for 11 years. I have seen the degradation of workplaces and the defeating effects this has had on all staff. I hope to help my fellow nurses and our workplaces become better by communicating our needs and wants with the provincial and fellow Reginal lobbiests. I am a steward and a passionate member of BCNU.
Hi, I am a Registered Nurse working in the labour and delivery field of the hospital, as well as the Emergency field. I have been a nurse for 10 years and was previously a Lobby Coordinator for three of those years. I enjoy reaching out to political members and engaging in critical conversations that enable them understand the nurses current states of need and future needs.
My objectives in applying to obtain this role include becoming aware of the political positions and platforms to inform nurses on how they will affect us. In addition, informing the political figures of the present and future concerns, needs, and ongoing crisis within all areas of nursing so they can bring these to higher levels of parliament to promote change.
Steward Liaison
I would like to run for steward liaison for the North West Region. I am an RN that lives in Prince Rupert. I am a perioperative trained nurse who enjoys working in the OR, PARR, ACU and occasionally med-surg. I am currently on maternity leave but return to work in August. I have been in the steward liaison role previously, however I took a step back from my union duties some years ago to pursue my perioperative training. I am excited to see the progress that has been made for steward liaison training and what new opportunities there are in this role. I look forward to helping nurses get involved as union stewards as well as connecting, collaborating, and supporting the existing stewards of the North West
My name is Matthew Le Gresley. I am putting my name forward as Steward Liaison for the Northwest region of BCNU. I have been the Northwest Lobby Coordinator and will be able to utilize the leadership skills learned in this role to better support our members. I will continue working with the Northwest regional executive team, our LRO, and our stewards to help both recruit and retain our stewards. I will do this by ensuring new stewards are supported in developing skills and organizational literacy within BCNU and Northern Health. I will work to evaluate which sites have the highest stewards needs and target action in these sites to reduce current steward burnout. I will continue to build the capacity of our union and it's members.
My Name is Peter Gill, I started my career at Mills Memorial Hospital in 2003. I currently work in Specialized Services as the NW Regional HSCL Nurse since 2019. Prior to my current position, I was the Clinical Manager for Kitimat General Hospital from 2015 to 2019. Furthermore, I work for Human Resources as a Advisor and Recruitment Consultant (2007 to 2015) for Northern Health prior to coming back to a unionized position. I bring a wealth of HR knowledge and experience which I can support and mentor our stewards to get the skills they need to represent our membership when interacting with the Employer. What I bring to the position is transparency, accountability, mentorship, and advocacy.
