During the convention banquet, the 2022 Leadership Awards were proudly presented by BCNU President Aman Grewal. Congratulations to Maggie Biagioni, recipient of the NU Leader Award, and Adigo Angela Achoba-Omajali, recipient of Excellence in Leadership & Advocacy Award. Angela and Maggie were recognized by their peers for outstanding contributions to their practice and communities.

Both awards include a monetary prize of one thousand dollars and a customized, crystal keepsake featuring original artwork titled Raven Steals the Light created by Haida artist Erik Prytula. The artwork was inspired by the creation story of how the raven steals the sun, moon and starts and places them in the sky, creating life as we know it. The work is a representation of the tremendous power of nursing and its capacity to heal and bring light into darkness.

Following the leadership awards, banquet attendees were entertained by Toronto's Susan Stewart, a comedian, author and motivational speaker. Stress relief was the goal of Stewart's set, lifting delegates' spirits through her comedy as therapy.
