Candidate Withdraws; Provincial Executive Councillors Acclaimed

December 12, 2017
Voting no longer necessary following withdrawal of candidate from provincial election

BCNU's Provincial Nominations Committee has been informed that Lorne Burkart, a member running for one of two executive councillor positions in the current election, has formally withdrawn his candidacy in writing.

Article 4.01 of the Bylaws provides, in part, as follows.

...Whenever there is but one (1) candidate for any of these offices, the vote shall be dispensed with and the President shall declare that candidate elected.

As a result of this candidate's withdrawal, voting will no longer be necessary to determine the successful candidates in the election of two provincial executive councillors.

BCNU Acting President Christine Sorensen has declared Chris Armeanu and Adriane Gear elected by acclamation to the positions of Provincial Executive Councillor and they are expected to take office as soon as possible.
