Make Your Vote Count

March 28, 2017
BCNU encourages all members to register to vote in BC's May 9 provincial general election

The 2017 provincial general election is an opportunity for our members to raise issues such as safe staffing, a violence-free health care workplace and protection of our public health care system with candidates. Once you have considered your candidate's responses, you play an important role by voting on May 9. To make sure your vote counts, you must be registered.

By now you should have received a letter in the mail from Elections BC confirming you are on the voters list. If you haven't received this letter, get in touch with Elections BC to provide the correct information. Click here to register to vote or to update your address for the May 9, 2017 provincial general election.

In order to vote, you must be a Canadian citizen, have lived in BC for at least six months, and be over the age of 18. For more information visit Elections BC or call 1-800-661-8683, Monday to Friday between 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

In the last provincial election, voter turnout rose to 55.3%, up somewhat over 2009 when fewer than half of potential voters cast ballots. BCNU urges and encourages all members to participate in the political process because the outcome affects us all.

Watch for additional important election information in the weeks ahead.
