ARNBC Members Encouraged Not to Register with NNPBC

March 22, 2019
BCNU is asking its members not to register with the NNPBC until the legal and operational status of the organization can be clarified.

The Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC (NNPBC) was formed in 2018 after it amalgamated with the BC Nurse Practitioner Association and the Association of Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC.

However, to our knowledge the NNPBC has no legal association with the ARNBC. For the ARNBC to legally amalgamate with the NNPBC it must enter into an amalgamation agreement and file it with the Registrar under Section 88 of the BC Societies Act. No such agreement has been filed.

In these circumstances ARNBC members would be right to question NNPBC's claim to represent them and whether NNPBC has received any ARNBC member dues. To our knowledge ARNBC members were not asked to authorize the amalgamation or transfer their dues to the NNPBC.

BCNU members have expressed concerns about ARNBC's financial management and accountability. Members have questioned why they are paying ARNBC dues, when according to the ARNBC website, they are re-directed to the NNPBC who "is now providing all professional association programs and services for every nursing designation in the province."

Given these concerns BCNU recommends that members not register with the NNPBC and remove their name from the membership list if you have already registered. Contact the NNPBC at 604-737-1304 or info@nnpbc.com
