Starting Wednesday, July 15 BCNU members can submit their nomination to run in the 2020 BCNU elections for the union's provincial or regional executive committees.
The dates of the election campaign and voting period have yet to be determined.
The previously scheduled candidate nomination, campaign and voting periods were postponed as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent restrictions put in place by BC's Public Health Office.
The BCNU Nominations Committee anticipates that fewer restrictions will be in place later in the year. It is hoped this will allow for full member participation while complying with public health measures.
More information will be made available as soon as a new campaign and voting periods have been established. Elections will be held for the following provincial executive positions:
President Vice-President Treasurer Executive Councillor (2 positions)
Regional elections will also be held for:
Regional Council Member(s) Communications/Secretary Lobby Coordinator Mental Health Advocate OH&S Representative Professional Responsibility Advocate Steward Liaison Treasurer
A member who wishes to run for any of the above positions must submit their nomination form to BCNU no later than 1200 on July 22, 2020. Nomination forms must be submitted electronically using the BCNU member portal.
The BCNU Nominations Committee will vet nominees upon the close of nominations and candidate orientation sessions will be held until 1200 on July 24.
