Members Celebrate Union’s 44th Anniversary with BCNU Day Quiz
Questions test members’ knowledge of stewards and minimum nurse-to-patient ratios
The BC Nurses’ Union was founded on June 11, 1981, when two hundred nurses held the organization’s first convention at the Empress Hotel in Victoria. Since that day, the union’s anniversary, BCNU Day, is marked on June 11.
The celebration returns this year with the annual BCNU Day quiz. Members are encouraged to participate and test their knowledge of stewards – ahead of the June 17-19 steward elections – and of minimum nurse-to-patient ratios as the union works to ensure ratios are implemented in hospital-based care settings.
Randomly drawn winners from each of BCNU’s 16 regions will receive a full set of Canadian-made and locally sourced scrubs.
The BCNU Day quiz will be open from June 1 – 11, 2025. For a chance to win, members can log in to the BCNU Member Portal and complete the quiz. Winners will be announced in eNews on June 19.
