Steward Elections Voting Extended
Voting will now close at 12 p.m. PDT on Friday June 20
Voting for the 2025 BCNU steward elections is being held open for an additional 24 hours, until 12 p.m. noon PDT on Friday, June 20.
BCNU has received concerns from members regarding the tight steward elections timeline and has worked with the election vendor to provide additional time for members to vote.
The steward elections are very specific and complex and are based on members’ worksites. Please note:
- To be eligible to vote in a worksite steward election, members must be registered through dues remittance at that worksite.
- The voting body is determined based on the Worksite Code.
- Larger sites may have many individual worksites and steward elections.
- Worksites are not determined based on the individual service or program where a member may work.
- If you have not received a voting credential email, a steward election may not be happening at your worksite.
The election vendor has advised that the email voting credentials are being sent and received by internet service providers and email companies with very few exceptions (e.g., bounce backs). Voting credentials have been successfully delivered and members are voting using various email companies.
Please note that several factors may contribute to confusion or challenges in finding voting credentials:
- While the voting credential emails are being sent and received by the email company (e.g., Gmail), they cannot guarantee that the company has delivered it to an individual’s email address.
- Large elections, such as these steward elections, require the delivery of a large number of emails in a very short period of time.
- Email companies have their own individual anti-spam and security protections, of which neither the election vendor nor BCNU might be aware.
Members are also advising the union via stewardelections@bcnu.org that that they have found their voting credentials in their spam/junk email folders.
What Can You Do to Make Sure You Receive Your Voting Credentials?
- Ensure your email inbox is not full. You will not receive your voting credentials if your inbox is full.
- Check your individual spam and/or junk folders – searching for the following:
- Email “From” address line: BC Nurses’ Union Steward Elections – or- vote@bcnustewardelections.ca
- Email ”Subject” line: 2025 BC Nurses’ Union Steward Elections
- If you still cannot find your voting credentials, log in to the BCNU Member Portal and make sure the email address we have on file is correct (e.g., spelled correctly and current).
- Contact stewardelections@bcnu.org to request voting credentials or other assistance.
The steward elections support team is processing membership issues as quickly as possible. Thank you for understanding.
