BCNU Donates to Tumbler Ridge Community Resiliency Fund
Members are encouraged to join the union in helping the community to heal
BCNU’s thoughts continue to be with the community of Tumbler Ridge as it heals from the events of Feb. 10 that claimed the lives of nine people and left more injured. To support the community’s recovery and efforts to reclaim its strength in the aftermath of such a devastating experience, BCNU’s provincial executive committee has approved a donation of $10,000 to the Tumbler Ridge Community Resiliency Fund established to provide coordinated, community-guided support for the long journey ahead.
Many health-care professionals and first responders were directly involved in the emergency. The union has heard from nurses around the province asking how they can support Tumbler Ridge residents and fellow nurses who responded to the incident. Donating money is one small way union members can help restore strength to Tumbler Ridge.
Individual members are encouraged to donate to the Tumbler Ridge Community Resiliency Fund or the Canadian Red Cross Tumbler Ridge Tragedy Appeal. Funds raised will be used to support those affected by the devastating events and help to address the emotional and psychological impacts of this traumatic event on individuals, families and communities.
BCNU is united in solidarity with every member and the broader community affected by this senseless event and will continue to ensure members have access to the support and available resources needed to heal and recover.
