Pacific Blue Cross Director Election

BCNU CEO Jim Gould acclaimed to PBC board of directors; members urged to help elect worker-endorsed candidates

The 2026 Pacific Blue Cross (PBC) board of directors’ election is underway, and BCNU members have an opportunity to vote and help strengthen health-care worker representation in decisions that affect health and benefits coverage for them and their families.

Pacific Blue Cross is one of BC’s largest not-for-profit health benefits providers, delivering health, dental, disability and travel coverage to one in three people in BC. The organization’s board of directors oversees governance, strategic direction and the long-term sustainability of benefit plans that impact many BCNU members.

This year, BCNU CEO and chief negotiator Jim Gould was acclaimed to the PBC board of directors in the Organizational Member category and will serve a three-year term. Gould brings extensive leadership, advocacy and bargaining experience to the role and aims to ensure workers’ perspectives remain central to discussions about benefit coverage, affordability, accessibility and long-term sustainability.

BCNU is encouraging members to vote for worker-endorsed candidates Jaime Matten, Martin (Marty) Gibbons and Jocelyn (Joey) Hartman in the Individual Member category. These candidates have been endorsed for their commitment to transparency, accountability and strong worker representation on the board.

Director elections are conducted through advance electronic voting ahead of the PBC annual general meeting on May 27 in Burnaby. Eligible members can vote online using their PBC policy and ID numbers found on their PBC card. Voting is open until May 25.
