National Nurses Week: May 7 - 13

May 04, 2018
The vital role nurses play every single day across British Columbia will be recognized May 7-13 during National Nursing Week.

In honour of BCNU members there are several activities to watch and listen for:

  • A province-wide radio message from BCNU President Christine Sorensen will air on radios stations starting this Monday. In the message, Sorensen speaks to the impossible situations of nurses struggling with understaffing or violence, where both nurses and patients can be at risk. Most important her message invites British Columbians to recognized and celebrate nurses. You'll catch the message on radio stations around the province.
  • The BC Nurses' Union's Facebook page will feature two video vignettes next week of Pacific Rim region member Tanja Bergen and Vancouver Metro region member Sarah-Zoe Pichette.  The two nurses were the successful applicants selected from dozens of expressions of interest by the BCNU Provincial Executive to attend the American Nurses Association's Quality and Innovation Conference from March 21-23 in Orlando, Florida.  The competition was offered by BCNU's professional practice and advocacy department.
  • Watch Our Nurses Matter Facebook page and BC Nurses' Union's Instagram starting May 7. Some of BCNU's best and brightest members will be featured during National Nursing Week.

BCNU is proud to lead the way for our over 47,000 members and for a better health care system for all.

Thank you nurses and Happy National Nursing Week.
