Delegates to BCNU’s annual convention elected members William Chambers, Crystal Ferreira, Paulina Iturra, Jordanne Ruff and Cindy Webster to the BCNU Nominations Committee.

Convention delegates vote for five members to serve on the Nominations Committee for three-year terms in the year prior to the union’s general elections. The committee is responsible for overseeing elections for BCNU officers and regional council members and ensuring the election process is fair and transparent. Committee members cannot hold a union position above that of a worksite steward nor state a political preference or endorse a candidate in any provincial or regional BCNU election in any way.

The committee is also responsible for determining candidate eligibility, investigating member or candidate complaints received during a campaign or election period and making decisions and recommendations for corrective action to ensure inclusive and culturally safe election processes that are sensitive to the needs and concerns of all BCNU members.

Ishwarpreet Cheema and Winsome Hare were elected as alternates to the committee.
