Steward Essentials

0900 - 1700
Location: Online

Application Deadline: October 06, 2022

Steward Essentials is designed for new stewards to help them do their job as a steward.

The topics covered include: how to read and interpret a collective agreement, essential skills required for union/management meetings, how and when to file grievances and how to navigate the grievance process. Over the course of two days (Nov. 17 & 24, 2022), the virtual sessions will review ‘just in time’ online resources available to support stewards in fulfilling their role.

The purpose of Steward Essentials is to create a consistent practice for Steward work so you can build a cohesive Steward team able to advocate for and empower members and uphold/protect the Collective Agreement.

IMPORTANT: Please note, this course will be administered through the BCNU Learning Centre, BCNU’s new learning management system.
