The Steward Intermediate course is designed to strengthen BCNU stewards’ ability to address issues in their workplaces and better support members. Activities focus on communicating effectively in difficult conversations and integrating BCNU’s member advocacy services.
This course delves deeper into key concepts taught in Steward Essentials by exploring labour relations theory about progressive discipline and union investigations. Stewards re-examine the grievance process, identify multiple issues within a single member incident scenario, and practice preparing and presenting complex grievances confidently at the Step 1 level.
Steward Intermediate is completed over three live full-day, in-person class sessions on Oct. 6,7, and 8.
BCNU reimburses participants for three days’ salary after completing every full-day session.
