BCNU Celebrates National Nursing Week

May 05, 2023
May 8 – 14 events to recognize nurses for their unwavering commitment to the health of their communities

The theme of National Nursing Week 2023 is Our Nurses. Our Future. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light the dedication and determination that nurses bring to work every day and showed the crucial role that nurses play in the community. This year, BCNU is celebrating National Nursing Week with a series of special activities and initiatives to acknowledge the extraordinary work of members across BC.

Province-wide Advertising to Celebrate Nurses

Radio listeners around the province will hear a special message from BCNU President Aman Grewal. The ad hits the airwaves on Monday, May 8 and can be found on BCNU’s YouTube channel. The union is also recognizing members with advertisements in print and digital publications to remind British Columbians about the nurses who provide care every day in hospitals, long-term care facilities and the community, often under incredibly difficult conditions.

Live Webinar: Cultivating Agency When Systems Fail Us

All members are encouraged to join renowned somatic educators Anita Chari and Angelica Singh at a special May 10 noon-hour webinar, where they will explore tools to help nurses prioritize health and cultivate personal and collective agency. Amid widespread nursing shortages and feelings of overwhelm, how can nurses find tools for empowerment in addition to the tools they have for coping within a flawed health-care system? Cultivating Agency When Systems Fail Us complements the Embodying Your Practice on-demand member education course. Register here.
