Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee Training

Joint Occupational Health & Safety (JOHS) committees are a cornerstone of effective health and safety programs. They facilitate members’ rights to participate collaboratively with the employer in reducing the toll of occupational injury, disease and violence on members. JOHS committees are legally mandated by the Workers Compensation Act and are a provision of our collective agreements. JOHS Committees have a range of duties including the ability to inspect workplaces, investigate OH&S concerns, and make recommendations to employers. In this interactive one-day course, JOHS committee representatives learn about the crucial role they play in creating and maintaining safe, healthy worksites for all members.​

Course Format:

One-day blended learning course. 


To be eligible for this course you must:

  • be designated as a BCNU Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee Representative.
  • have completed the required eight (8) hours training from your employer.
Due to COVID-19 and in keeping with the recommendations of the Provincial Health Office and the government of BC, BCNU has postponed all in-person workshops until further notice.
