Maggie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, in 2020, from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). Also in 2020, Maggie was the recipient of the North West Award for Student Advocacy. Upon receiving this award, Maggie stated that during her nursing program: “I have tried to demonstrate Indigenous and global advocacy, leadership, and social justice.”

A nominator of Maggie, Teri Forster, BCNU Regional Council Member, North West Region, says that during her time as a student, Maggie “worked to bring the rights of Indigenous and marginalized students to the forefront of her education institutions. She advocated for and subsequently co-chaired Aboriginal evening groups for students, staff and the community.”
